Tell me the week
How many are eating, how many dinners you want, and the full list of allergies, diets and flat refusals. I keep it on file so you only say it once.
Home / Family Meals
Not every meal needs a chef standing in the kitchen. Some weeks you just need dinner to exist. Family meals are the everyday half of what I do: real cooking, made in your quantities, brought round ready to go in the fridge or the freezer.
It's the same cooking I do for dinner parties, minus the plating and the fuss. A shepherd's pie is a shepherd's pie. The difference is that somebody else made it, there's enough to feed everyone twice, and nobody had to stand at a hob at half six with a toddler attached to one leg.
Tell me how many of you there are, how many dinners you want covered and what the children will genuinely eat. I'll put a week together, and you can change it as you go.

Bought fresh, cooked from scratch, portioned for your household rather than a standard family of four that nobody actually is.

Delivered ready to go straight in the fridge or freezer, labelled with what it is and how to heat it. Then you get your evening back.
These are the ones that get ordered again and again. Nothing on this list is clever. All of it gets eaten, which is a higher bar than it sounds.

Most households I cook for have somebody at a different stage to everyone else. A baby on first foods, a seven year old going through a phase, a grandparent who has been told to watch the salt. Cooking three separate dinners is how people end up ordering pizza instead.
So I split it at the point where it matters. A portion of the bolognese comes out before the salt goes in and gets blitzed down for the baby. The fajitas get a plain chicken and rice version for the child who thinks guacamole is an insult. Everyone eats the same meal, roughly, which is the whole point of one.
Tell me ages and stages when you order and none of it needs asking for twice.
Most families start with three or four dinners a week and end up ordering the same two on repeat, because those are the two the children stopped arguing about. Based on orders taken by Emily In France.

The twelve dishes on this page earned their place by being ordered over and over. They are not a fixed menu. If your family has a dish they have eaten every fortnight for six years, add it. If something I sent went down badly, say so plainly and it comes off your list for good.
I keep notes for every household I cook for: what worked, what the children asked for again, what never to send twice. By the third order it takes about two minutes to place, and it lands a lot closer to what you actually wanted than the first one did.
New dishes go on the list through the seasons too. A summer week looks nothing like a February one, and a wood oven changes what is worth cooking at all.
That's for food cooked and delivered to your door, with no service on the night, which is what keeps it at this price. The real figure depends on how many you're feeding and how many dinners you want covered, so I quote by the week. If you want me there cooking and serving instead, the three-course private chef menus start at €50 a head.
They start at €25 per person for food cooked and delivered, with nobody staying to serve it. Beyond that it depends on how many you're feeding and how many dinners you want covered, so tell me both and I'll quote you for the week rather than the dish.
That is most of the job. Send me the list when you order, including the things nobody will admit to, and I'll keep it on file so you never have to repeat it. If one child will only eat food that is beige, say so. I have heard worse.
Yes. If you have a baby weaning or a toddler who eats a version of whatever everyone else is having, tell me their stage and I'll put a portion aside made without the salt, the chilli or whatever else isn't suitable yet.
Please do. The twelve dishes above are just the ones that get ordered most. Anything your family already loves can go on the list, and once it works it stays there.
Around La Rochelle and the surrounding Charente-Maritime. If you're further out, ask before you assume the answer is no. I'm often already driving that way for a chef booking.
No, and the difference matters. As a private chef I cook in your kitchen and serve at your table for an occasion. Family meals are cooked to order and dropped off, for the ordinary Tuesday when nobody has the energy.
If you've got people coming and you'd rather the food arrived hot and plated, have a look at the private chef menus, or at how booking me as a chef works.
Send me your numbers and a rough idea of the dinners you want covered, and I'll come back with a plan and a price.
